Elsie Kelsey was born and brought up at Demiville House, Halftown, and was the first female mayor of Lisburn Borough Council (1978-79). She stood for the Ulster Unionist Party. Here she is photographed at the annual Mayor’s parade, admiring a council float dedicated to litter!  Do you remember the event?  Let us know!
