Novermber 22nd 2017 marked the 50th anniversary of Lisburn Historical Society. To celebrate, the museum has mounted a display in foyer telling the story of the Historical Society, its role in collecting and preserving Lisburn’s past, and its links to the museum. Call in today!
Over 75 members of the public and representatives of Lisburn Borough Council attended the first meeting of Lisburn Historical Society in November 1967. Hosted in the town’s Assembly Rooms (now Lisburn Museum) and chaired by Councillor Hugh Bass, the society was established to foster interest in the history of Lisburn and the surrounding area, and preserve its heritage.
