Linen tableware was often woven to commemorate the crowing of a new monarch or important royal occasions. Marking the coronation of King Charles III in May 2023, this exhibition brings together four Coronation-related cloths from the museum’s collection including the ‘Waringstown Cloth’, the earliest Irish linen damask tablecloth woven for the coronation of King George II in 1727.
