The old terrace at Chapel Hill, c.1950s (ILC&LM Collection, gifted by Lisburn Historical Society)
This terrace was located above St. Patrick’s Church, Chapel Hill, Lisburn. It was later demolished to make way for new road developments. At the back of the terrace was ‘Fairymount Square’, where another 15 houses were located.
Note the billboard advertising Coca-Cola. This American soft drink was produced in Belfast from 1939 before the business moved to the Lisburn area with the opening of Lambeg production line in 1964. In front of the billboard was the entrance to Lisburn Golf Club, before the club moved to its present site at Blaris Lodge outside the town in 1973.
St. Patrick’s Church, Chapel Hill, Lisburn (ILC&LM Collection). Note the old terrace in the distance beyond the church.
