The Covid-19 Panedemic has brought into sharp focus the role our essential and emergency workers play in keeping us all safe. Isn’t is important that Museums collect objects, stories and history relating to these services? In part, that’s why we have launched our ‘Covid-19 and Me’ project.
In 1996 the museum added this 1938 Denis Fire Engine to the collection. It was first purchased by Lisburn Urban District Council in 1938, and it saw service in the Belfast Blitz.
The Fire Engine is (sort of) famous, having starred in (2007) ‘Closing the Ring’, directed by Lord Attenborough.
