Winter Talks 2026

We’re excited to announce our Winter Talks for 2026!

The talks are free and in person, and take place in the museum’s historic Assembly Room. Booking is essential.

Doors open at 6.30pm for tea and coffee on arrival, and talks start promptly at 7pm. Please note there is no allocated seating for these events.

Tuesday 17 February 2026 @ 7pm – ‘The fascinating Robert Hilliard’, by Lin Rose Clark
Priest, Olympian, socialist, Franco-fighter! The fascinating life of local man, Robert Hilliard, told by his granddaughter.

Tuesday 24 February 2026 @ 7pm – ‘A recent community excavation at Moira’, by Ruairí Ó Baoill
Ruairí Ó Baoill, from the Centre for Community Archaeology at Queens University Belfast, discusses the findings from last year’s excavation at Moira Demesne.

Tuesday 3 March 2026 @ 7pm – ‘The public histories of the Islandmagee witch trials, 1711’, by Dr Andrew Sneddon
You’ve heard of Salem, but what about Islandmagee? Dr Sneddon discusses the cultural and social memory of Ireland’s last witch trials which were held on this peninsula in southeast County Antrim.
