The following event is posted on behalf of the Belfast French Circle:
On Wednesday 11 December 2024 at 7pm, the Belfast French Circle (Cercle Français de Belfast) is holding the next event of its monthly cultural programme in the Assembly Rooms of the Irish Linen Centre & Lisburn Museum.
The talk is on ‘Champollion and the decipherment of hieroglyphics’, and the speaker is Michael Rooze. Please note that the talk is in English.
Michael deciphers the life and work of French philologist, Champollion le Jeune, who helped decode the Rosetta Stone. The Belfast French Circle is delighted to hold its event in the Irish Linen Centre & Lisburn Museum, which hosted the British Museum’s touring exhibition, Egyptian hieroglyphs: unlock the mystery, in 2023.
The talk is organised by the Belfast French Circle and is free for members. The cost for non-members is £5.00, payable on entry. All welcome!
To help the Belfast French Circle calculate final numbers, anyone wishing to attend should contact mpleiades@yahoo.co.uk no later than 6pm on 8 December.
