It’s great to bring you details of our Lisburn Museum Culture Club programme for winter/spring 2026. There’s historical talks, music, bookbinding, and more!
Our events are free and in person, and take place in the museum’s historic Assembly Room on Saturday afternoons. Tea and coffee will be served from 1:45pm, and talks start promptly at 2pm. Saturday 3 January 2026 @ 2pm – ‘The Vikings in Ulster’, by Tim Hodkinson Author, Tim Hodkinson, discusses the place names, sagas, and chronicles of the Vikings in Ulster.
Saturday 7 February 2026 @ 2pm – ‘1798’, by Trevor Martin Local historian, Trevor Martin, brings to life some of the stories surrounding the Irish Rebellion of 1798.
Saturday 7 March 2026 @ 2pm – ‘Metaphors and Melodies’, with Sing & Tonic and Shelley Tracey To mark International Women’s Day, we are delighted to welcome Sing & Tonic with poet Shelley Tracey for a special hour of song and spoken word. Blending gentle harmonies with thoughtful poetry, this event celebrates women from around the world, both present day and through history — their voices, stories, and shared experiences. Together, songs and poems will create a reflective, uplifting space that honours connection, creativity, and the power of women’s voices.
Saturday 4 April 2026 @ 2pm – ‘The Air Ambulance in Northern Ireland’ A fascinating talk on the formation and operation of the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS).
Saturday 2 May 2026 2026 @ 2pm – ‘Judging a book by its cover’, by David Dunlop Bookbinder David Dunlop tell us all about the world of conservation and bookbinding.
