Angela McCann, LCCC’s Head of Communities, addressing the last meeting about Hilden School on 14 March.

On Thursday 14 March 2024, Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council’s (LCCC) Museum and Heritage Service provided the local community with an update on Hilden School’s Refurbishment and Reinvigoration Delivery 2024-27. Head of Communities, Angela McCann, outlined how the substantial funding received from The National Lottery Heritage Fund now enabled LCCC to progress to the refurbishment of the school building which will also reinvigorate the Hilden area.

The delivery phase involves the procurement of a contractor, refurbishment of the building, and continued partnership working with The Resurgam Trust towards the delivery of a tearoom and nursery. The next update will outline how – working with its community partners – Lisburn Museum will provide a permanent heritage display in the new café area, an annual programme of events, and training for community heritage volunteers.
