If you have an interest in history, art, textiles or heritage crafts, and want museum experience, then join our new free programme. ‘Young Creatives’ will explore Lisburn’s linen heritage and traditions of making. You’ll take part in workshops, create art, explore the museum’s collections and peek behind-the-scenes, learn about endangered crafts, and co-curate a major touring exhibition. This exhibition will tour Lisburn and partners in Scotland and Wales in 2027.
Speaking at the launch, Councillor Tim Mitchell, Chair of the Communities & Wellbeing Committee said, “This is an incredible opportunity. Local 16-24-year-olds will have the chance to delve into their linen-making heritage and take part in an amazing range of workshops. They’ll get valuable hands-on experience in the museum, networking opportunities and a chance to curate their own exhibition. The programme is free, participants will receive an honorarium for taking part, and there’s a fantastic opportunity to explore museums in the highlands of Scotland. The programme is open to all 16–24-year-olds and there’s no previous experience needed!”
