There are many myths about owls, but what we do know about these birds is that they have exceptional hearing, special feathers that allow them to fly almost silently, and can rotate their head up to 270 degrees! This male ‘long-eared owl’ is part of our small collection of natural history specimens. His ‘ear tufts’ are not ears at all. They are raised by the bird when it feels threatened.
