Object: The Royal Irish Linen Warehouse

Welcome! This is the first post in our new #VirtualMuseum. Fittingly, we have featured the magnificent Robinson & Cleaver warehouse and department store by the Belfast design House, Marcus Ward & Co, c.1888-1889. The store captures the glamour and wealth of the linen industry in the later 19th century.

This watercolour features in our award-winning permanent ‘Flax to Fabric’ exhibition. It was brought into the collection in 1984
