Event Details

Established in 2022, The Golden Thread Group is an all-Ireland group of women who share a love of textiles and stitching. Meeting on both sides of the Irish border, it helps to develop friendship, understanding, and trust as members sew together and listen to each other’s stories. In a safe and respectful space, it blends conversation, contemplation, and creativity. One of the group’s aims is to contribute towards peace on the island of Ireland by producing collective textile art with and for communities.

A central concern of the group’s gatherings has been honouring the old, the broken, and the discarded – working together to restore, renew, and beautify. The sharing of traditional and new making skills, together with the exploration of the symbolism inherent in cloth and clothing across cultures and faith traditions, has supported this creative collaborative process. The ‘Honouring Brokenness’ exhibition is the result of this work.

The exhibition is complemented by a series of four stitching workshops, which can be booked via TicketSource.
