Circuit of Ireland Rally Winners 2016 receive Irish Linen

There was Lisburn Linen For the Circuit of Ireland Rally Winners 2016!  Following the successful launch of this year’s Circuit of Ireland Rally in Lisburn, the Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh, Councillor Thomas Beckett presented Craig Breen from Waterford and his co-driver Scott Martin – winners of this year’s Circuit of Ireland International Rally 2016 -with hand woven linen damask napkins, designed and produced by the Irish Linen Centre & Lisburn Museum.

The museum created these unique hand-finished bespoke napkins for the three top crews and the Mayor presented them during the closing ceremony at Queen’s University,  highlighting Lisburn’s historic connection to Ireland’s most famous industry: linen.  The story of linen is expertly told in oru award-winning Flax to ‘Fabric exhibition’, where visitors can see hand looms in operation!

The high quality damask linen napkins feature a Circuit of Ireland pattern and were produced using a Jacquard loom.

Historic ‘Linen’ prize for Circuit winners – presented by Lisburn & Castlereagh Mayor Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh, Councillor Thomas Beckett presents each of the top three winners of this year’s Circuit of Ireland International Rally with a very special and totally unique hand woven linen napkin marking the Circuit’s historic 85th year.
