On 2nd October 2015 the museum launched its latest exhibition, ‘Tale of the Threads’ by the Loose Thread Quilters. Loose Thread Quilters is a small group of active quilt makers drawn from all over Northern Ireland. For over 20 years the group has promoted the practice and art of patchwork, appliqué and quilting to traditional quilt makers and contemporary fabric artists.
This collection, titled ‘The Tale of the Thread’, was inspired by the group’s longstanding relationship with the Irish Linen Centre and Lisburn Museum, and the quilts and wall hangings reflect elements on display in the museum’s ‘Flax to Fabric’ exhibition
